住在深山的老外 Expat Lives Deep in the Mountains

Dai, a computer science graduate from Boston University, was given an English version of the masterpiece Tao Te Ching, or Dao De Jing, written by Chinese sage Lao Zi, founder of Taoism from the sixth century BC, by his philosophy history teacher.He instantly fell in love with Chinese philosophy and Chinese culture.

2003年,戴带着这本书来到中国,并在中国东部山东省青岛市定居。他在当地一所大学当了一名外籍教师。
In 2003, Dai came to China with the book and settled down in Qingdao city, East China’s Shandong province. He became a foreign teacher in a local university.

但几年后,他辞掉了工作,隐居到深山的一所小房子里。 在那里,他开始根据自己对中国和青岛的了解,致力于《道德经》的英译。
But some years later, he quit the job and retreated to live in a small house deep in the mountain.There, he began devoting himself to the English translation of Tao Te Ching based on his own understanding of China and Qingdao.
